INTRODUCTION
The training programme is one of the priorities of AAF.
It has been functioning since 1996 and the reasons for
its existence are in two directions. The first one is
related to the increasing popularity of AAF and the
interest in "The Animus Model" which proved
to be quite successful for the Bulgarian conditions.
The model combines work on concrete cases with lobbying
on different levels, prevention and training and each
activity is based on analysis of the specific case.
The second direction is related to the practical experience
of the helping professionals working in the Rehabilitation
centre for women, adolescents and children survivors
of violence.
In 2000 the training programme of AAF was restructured
to a Training centre, developing courses and programmes
in three areas - on the problems of trauma, for work
in the community and organisational consulting. After
each new request the Training centre and the Requesting
organisation have a preliminary discussion on the topics
and the form of the training and on administrative and
financial matters. Depending on the topic and the size
of the group, the team and duration of the training
are defined. The areas and topics of training presented
below have been realised by the Training centre so far.
FORMS OF TRAINING
The method of the trainings is interactive, as the different
training forms allow participants to incorporate the
newly acquired knowledge with their previous experience:
lectures, work in a large group, work in a small group,
role plays, work on cases, psychodrama, discussions,
etc.
TRAINERS
Ten trainers - psychologists, psychotherapists, social
workers and a PR specialist - work in the Training centre.
TRAINING MATERIALS
The training team prepares written materials on each
topic. These materials are given to the trainees at
the end of the seminar. Depending on the trainee group,
the materials may be written in Bulgarian, English or
Russian.
LANGUAGE
The language in which the trainings are organised is
in accordance with the trainee group. The Training centre
conducts trainings in Bulgarian and English.
90 training seminars were organised for the period 1996-2001
During the year 2001 there were 912 participants in
