The Animus Association Foundation proudly announces “Downloads for Dollars,” in partnership with DJ Come of Age and Markus Ekholm of Swedish band Slowmo. DJ COA and Ekholm, a world-renowned production duo, have pledged to donate fifty percent (50%) of the revenues from Internet downloads of their cds titled “Unheralded: The Neo Soul Project” and “Hidden Souls”. These soulful compilations have already garnered international acclaim and recognition. Music lovers everywhere can now donate and support the Animus Association by simply downloading beautiful music! The two albums are available worldwide at such digital stores as iTunes, MSN Music, Rhapsody, and more.
Animus Association Foundation is a Bulgarian non-profit organization working in support of victims of violence. The organization applies a comprehensive approach to combating violence by providing the following services to women, adolescents and children victims of violence: short and long-term psychotherapy, accommodation in a safe house, social assistance, vocational training. In addition, the organization disseminates information on prevention of violence, lobbies for changes in the social attitudes towards violence and its victims and trains other government and non-government organizations for working with victims of violence. For the 12 years of its existence the organization has supported over 18 000 people.
Animus Association is a member and co-founder of La Strada International Association for Prevention of traffic in women in Central and Eastern Europe which received the MTV Europe Free Your Mind Award in 2004.
In the wake of the Hurricane Katrina disaster, many musicians donated proceeds from album sales to victims of this catastrophe. The healing power of music came to the forefront to help those in need. The sincerity of collective artistic efforts was duly noted. What effect would music have on society if it were continually used to garner attention for those in need? In a digital society, shouldn’t digital sales play a major role in fundraising? “Downloads for Dollars,” hopes to answer these questions. The program is a revolutionary idea partnering stellar independent musicians with established non-profit organizations, and addresses a dual purpose: (1) Give deserving artists much needed recognition and a viable outlet to sell their music; and (2) Provide a continuous opportunity for non-profit organizations to raise money for their stated aims.
