Academic courses and seminars organised and conducted by Animus Association specialists

These courses are based on fostering understanding of psychological trauma, result of violence.

  • In the spring semester The New Bulgarian University started the course "Case Formulation", prepared by Maria Tchomarova and Valeri Ivanov. This course combines the theory of formulation of therapeutical and social cases and the practice in working with clients at the Rehabilitation Center for Women, Adolescents and Children.

  • At the beginning of the autumn semester, the academic board of the New Bulgarian University, Bulgarian Institute for Human Relations, approved the proposal for introducing the course "Consequences of violence: clinical representations of psychological trauma" prepared by Maria Minkova, in the Master's Programme on clinical and social work.

  • During the summer semester of the year 2000, a course on "Social Work with Women survivors of violence" was introduced at the Free University, Burgas. It was aimed at the "Social Work" course students of the Master's Programme. The course had ten students working on the development of practical skills for recognition of trauma and the psychological and social needs of survivors of violence and for their counselling.
  • In the year 2000 the Rehabilitation Center for Women, Adolescents and Children Survivors of Violence confirmed its position of a university clinical basis. Thirteen students from "Kilment Ohridski" University and New Bulgarian University, Bulgarian Institute for Human Relations, were able to get consultations on their essays and thesis on the subject of violence and trauma. Four students from the Bulgarian Institute for Human Relations had their practical experience at Animus, which included observation and description of the Center.
